To paraphrase: While the fox is a cunning and complex creature always thinking of new ways to attack the hedgehog, the hedgehog keeps his defense simple and constant: becoming a sphere of spikes to repel the fox. Berlin divided people into the two groups: foxes, which tend to be "scattered or diffused" vs. the hedgehogs, who "simplify a complex world into a single organizing idea, a basic principle or concept that unifies and guides everything."
